Then you should consider a career in electrical and computer engineering. The Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering degree programs at UNH provide students with a sound education in electrical engineering and computer engineering with a solid theoretical understanding and extensive laboratory experience.
Undergraduate applicants to the program should have a broad high school level background in mathematics and science. Core mathematics courses in the ECE program build on the student’s firm understanding of algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus. Most students have completed high school equivalent calculus courses. A background in high school level physics will prepare the student for the core ECE physics requirements. Introductory level electric circuits and digital systems courses in the ECE Department start with the basic concepts of electrical and computer engineering. However, students who have taken high school equivalent courses in electric circuits or computer language programming have found them to be beneficial. Of course, any experience in designing electric circuits, building or programming personal computers, operating amateur radios, configuring networks, working with automotive electronics, or building home entertainment systems helps a student understand how electrical and computer engineering is applied to the design of modern electronic devices and systems.
Students who would like to transfer from another university, college, or technical institute should contact our Transfer Advisors: Dr. Gordon Kraft for the Electrical Engineering Degree Program and Dr. Richard Messner for the Computer Engineering Degree Program. In most cases students are given credit for course work they have successfully completed at other institutions.
