Some Helpful Feedback
from Employers at Previous Job Fairs and Advise on How to Prepare for the
Job Fair Includes:
- Dress - while most of the students dressed
appropriately, there were still a significant number that came in jeans
and t-shirts which is not appropriate.
- Resumes - they really need to be kept to ONE PAGE
unless the individual has a significant amount of experience. Some of the
graduate students might need more than one page, but many last year could
have been easily trimmed down to one page.
- Resumes - make sure that the educational background is
up front.
- Prior Preparation - it would
be a wise thing for students to look at the web sites
of those companies that they are interested in prior to coming to
the job fair.
Learn about the companies from their web
sites prior to the job fair so you will go informed.
- Students should be prepared to discuss any projects
that they have worked on.
- Students need to work on their approach to talking with
a company. First thing is to extend one's hand for a handshake and then be
prepared to ask questions that show their interest in learning more about
how they might fit into the company.
