Course Description

ECE715 is an introductory course in the principles of VLSI (Very Large Scale Integration) system design at the physical level. The course includes topics on CMOS transistor theory, full-custom circuit and logic layout, integrated-circuit layout and simulation CAD tools, design methodologies, and procedures for testing and verification. Fundamentals of nanotechnology and MEMs (Micro Electro Mechanical devices) Students exercise the development cycle of a VLSI circuit: design, simulation, layout, fabrication, and testing. Design, simulation, and layout will be performed during semester I. During semester II the fabricated VLSI circuits are tested and verified.
