UNH Budapest Exchange Students Visit the University of Novi Sad

On October 21 and 22, 2006, thirteen UNH students from the Budapest exchange program visited the Faculty of Technical Sciences (FTN-College of Engineering), at the University of Novi Sad (UNS), Serbia, Europe. This is the third year in a row that a visit of the UNH exchange students took place. Each year the UNH students meet and spend some time with their fellow students from the UNS.

This year the students stayed in a mountain cottage near Novi Sad and hiked Fruska Gora hill. They also visited Sremski Karlovci and a famous local wine cellar. After a sightseeing tour of Novi Sad, they visited the UNS campus and FTN where Vice-dean Prof. Vladimir Katic greeted them.

This recurring association between UNH and the UNS was first initiated by Prof. Andrew Kun, UNH, who has provided a number of scholarships for the UNS graduate students through Project54. The contacts with the UNS were promoted by Prof. John LaCourse, the ECE Department Chair.  Prof. Katic’s visits to UNH were fruitful particularly because of power engineering seminars he gave to the UNH students and the collaborative educational research workshops with UNH Instructor Prof. Neda Pekaric-Nad, a visiting professor from the UNS.  The UNH/UNS connections were further strengthened by Prof. Andrzej Rucinski’s visits to the UNS. They all should be congratulated for making this possible.
