The ECE Department has established a number of electronic systems to facilitate the exchange of information. During the past year we brought on-line a World Wide Web (WWW) server, a list server, and an anonymous FTP site. If you have access to the Internet you can use our information systems.

The address of the Department's WWW home page is "www.ece.unh.edu". Our WWW site is currently under construction, but already has information about our EE program, faculty, and research facilities. Also, there is an interactive information request form which can be used to obtain information about our program and there is a copy of Signals and Noise in electronic format. The WWW will be updated continuously with additional information about the Department and curriculum.

The anonymous FTP site is used to distribute educational and research materials. The address of the anonymous FTP site is "ftp.ece.unh.edu". The login name is "anonymous" and the password is your Internet address. The "incoming" directory under the "pub" directory is used for incoming materials, see the "readme" file in the "pub" directory for directions on how to place an item in the FTP site.

The Department's list server is used to distribute electronic information to established groups. Currently the Department's list server serves 12 active mailing lists:

The central procedural address of the list server is "listproc@simon.unh.edu". To obtain a help file about how to use the list server:

• send an e-mail message to "listproc@simon.unh.edu"
• the message you send is "help"

To obtain a listing of active mailing lists:

• send an e-mail message to "listproc@simon.unh.edu"
• the message you send is "lists"

A list of active mailing lists will be automatically e-mailed to you. To subscribe to an active mailing list:

• send an e-mail message to "listproc@simon.unh.edu"
• the message you send is "subscribe list_name your_name"
  • then any time you want to distribute information to the list send an e-mail message to "list_name@simon.unh.edu"

For example, to subscribe and participate in the alumni list:

• send an e-mail message to "listproc@simon.unh.edu"
• the message you send is "subscribe alumni your_name"
  • then to send a message to be distributed to the other members of the list send an e-mail message to "alumni@simon.unh.edu" (where it will be distributed automatically to every member of the list)
  • as a member of a list you will automatically receive messages from the list
