Fisher Scholarship Fund

The Fisher Scholarship is made possible by a series of major gifts from George F. and Lina C. Fisher to the University of New Hampshire Foundation. George Fisher received the Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering at UNH in 1950. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate and/or graduate students at the University within the ECE Department. Awards from the fund are made on the basis of merit, although financial need may also be considered.

This year there were four recipients of the Fisher Scholarship: Jonathan Scalera from Hampton, New Hampshire, Andrea Dozet from Gonic, New Hampshire, Susan Wilson from Derry, New Hampshire and Joshua Morong from Dover, New Hampshire. All four of these students were near the tops of their classes in academics. In addition, Jonathan Scalera works in the ECE Department's Robotics Laboratory as a student researcher (part of our National Science Foundation sponsored Research Experiences for Undergraduates Program) and is a drummer in the UNH band. Andrea Dozet is also participating in the NSF REU Program, carrying out image processing research in the ECE Department's Synthetic Vision Laboratory. Susan Wilson is a veteran of the U.S. Army, is a licensed private pilot, and is building her own airplane. Joshua Morong is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and participates in computer network testing activities as a technician in the UNH InterOperability Laboratory.
