Hitchcock Award
The Leon W. Hitchcock Award is presented to an outstanding junior
in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as selected by the
faculty of that Department. This year Christopher Plumlee from Derry, New
Hampshire received the award. Christopher currently has one of the top GPAs in
the class of 1998. During the past year he has been a participant in the
National Science Foundation Research Experiences for Undergraduates Site in the
ECE Department at UNH. His research has focused on the intelligent sensory-based
control of an autonomous robot. Christopher is an active member of the UNH
student chapter of the IEEE and holds the office of treasurer.
The funds for the award have been provided by alumni, faculty and
friends of the Department in memory of Leon W. Hitchcock, a longtime Professor
and Chairman of that Department. The amount of the award is determined by the
interest generated by the fund over the past year. If you would like to
contribute so that the award will continue to grow, please send your check
