David Forrest Appointed Research Associate Professor

Dr. David J. Forrest was appointed Research Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Dr. Forrest is presently a Research Associate Professor in the Institute of Earth, Oceans and Space (EOS) and the Space Science Center at the University of New Hampshire. Dr. Forrest received his Ph.D. in physics from UNH in 1969. In 1971 he became the Instrument Scientist for the Gamma Ray Experiment on NASA's OSO-7 mission. In the mid-1970s he designed the Gamma Ray Spectrometer (GRS) for NASA's Solar Maximum Mission. He was the Experiment Scientist and the UNH Technical Manager for this experiment. The GRS experiment was delivered on time and within budget, and was the first of six instruments delivered and integrated onto the SMM spacecraft. The GRS instrument operated without a single failure for nearly ten years, from its launch in 1980 until the SMM reentry in late 1989. Dr. Forrest is currently the principal investigator and project director of CATSAT.
