Fisher Scholarship Fund
The Fisher Scholarship is made
possible by a series of major gifts from George F. and Lina C. Fisher to the
University of New Hampshire Foundation. George Fisher received the Bachelor's
degree in Electrical Engineering at UNH in 1950. The purpose of the scholarship
fund is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate and/or graduate
students at the University within the ECE Department. Awards from the fund are
made on the basis of merit, although financial need may also be considered.
This year there were three recipients of the Fisher
Scholarship: Mike E. Dalton from Windham, NH; William M. Roy from Plaistow, NH;
and Melissa J. Wood from Litchfield, NH. All three of these students were near
the top of their class in academics. In addition, Mike Dalton works in the ECE
Department's Robotics Laboratory as a student researcher. Mike's research
focuses on interactive instructional systems for computer communication
technologies in cooperation with UNH's InterOperability Laboratory. During the
summer Melissa Wood is working at Sanders, A Lockheed Martin Company. William
Roy spent two years at McGill University in Canada before coming to
UNH.
