Walker Scholarship Fund
The Frederick N. Walker Jr. Scholarship
was made possible by a major gift from Adelaide L. Walker in memory of Lt. Col.
Frederick N. Walker Jr. ('33). Lt. Col. Walker received the B.S. Degree in
Engineering in the UNH class of 1933. He worked as an engineer at the Amoskeag
Manufacturing Company, and later the Public Service Company of New Hampshire,
while simultaneously serving as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He
went on active duty with the U.S. Army in 1940, serving subsequently in Japan,
Korea, Guam, and the Philippines. He retired from the army while holding the
rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to foster
education for a student or students in electrical engineering.
This year there were seven recipients of the Frederick N.
Walker Jr. Scholarship: Daren W. Keller from Portsmouth, NH; Eric R. Lynskey
from Rindge, NH; Alan M. Montminy from Berlin , NH; Joshua M. Morong from Dover,
NH; Jakob W. Odell from Lancaster, NH; Christina M. Short from North Scituate,
RI; and Mark J. Sinclair from Manchester, NH.
