Walker Scholarship Fund
The Frederick N. Walker Jr. Scholarship was made possible by a major gift
from Adelaide L. Walker in memory of Lt. Col. Frederick N. Walker Jr. (’33). Lt.
Col. Walker received the B.S. Degree in Engineering in the UNH class of 1933. He
worked as an engineer at the Amoskeag Manufacturing Company, and later the
Public Service Company of New Hampshire, while simultaneously serving as a
2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He went on active duty with
the U.S. Army in 1940, serving subsequently in Japan, Korea, Guam, and the
Philippines. He retired from the army while holding the rank of Lieutenant
Colonel. The purpose of the scholarship fund is to foster education for a
student or students in electrical engineering.
This year there were eleven recipients of the Frederick N. Walker Jr.
Scholarship: Eduardo J. Andrade from Acton, ME; Daren W. Keller from Portsmouth,
NH; Richard L. Lynch from Londonderry, NH; Alexander J. Misiaszek from Plaistow,
MH; Alan M. Montminy from Berlin, NH; David P. Montminy from Berlin, NH;
Jonathan G. Newcomb from Chocorua, NH; Matthew A. Plante, from Kittery , ME;
Sean D. Prindle from Tilton, NH; Benjamin A. Kjendal from Lakeville, MA; and
Kaitlin J. Wilson-Remmer from Center Harbor, NH. This year two Walker
Scholarships were awarded to incoming freshman: Kaitlin J. Wilson-Remmer and
Benjamin A. Kjendal.
