Hitchcock Award

The Leon W. Hitchcock Award is presented to an outstanding junior in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as selected by the faculty of the Department. This year Jason E. Chan from Nashua, NH received the award. Jason currently has one of the top GPAs in the class of 2002.

Jason worked for a year in UNH's Interoperability Laboratory as a member of the ADSL testing group. Last semester he worked for the ECE Department as a course grader for EE603 Electromagnetic Fields and Waves. Jason is currently working in the Radiation Testing Laboratory in UNH's Space Science Center. He is developing the electronics for the multi-channel CZT gamma ray detection system. One of Jason's strongest interests is electromagnetics. For his senior project he will be conducting research in EM wave propagation in dielectric media with Professor Sivaprasad. Jason is currently president of UNH's student branch of the IEEE.

The funds for the award have been provided by alumni, faculty and friends of the Department in memory of Leon W. Hitchcock, a longtime Professor and Chairman of the Department. The amount of the award is determined by the interest generated by the fund over the past year. If you would like to contribute so that the award will continue to grow, please send your check to:
