Fields of Research Activity
Fiber optics, instrumentation, biomedical engineering, electro-optics, physiological acoustics.

Experience
Eighteen years of teaching, the last twelve of which have been at UNH. He has taught courses in circuits, electronics, acoustics, instrumentation, fiber optics, opto-electronics, and optical engineering. He has received funding in research in biomedical instrumentation, often incorporating fiber optics and laser interferometry. He has consulted in industry on instrumentation projects.

Biography
Allen Drake was born in Providence, RI on April 29, 1945. He received the B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island in 1967; the S.M. and E.E. degrees from M.I.T. in 1968 and 1969 respectively; the A.M. degree from Harvard in 1971; and the Ph.D. from Tufts University in 1978. Since August 1983 he has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of New Hampshire and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New Hampshire. He is a member of the Optical Society of America, the Acoustical Society of America, the Laser Institute of America, and a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. He has been elected to membership in Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, and Sigma Xi.
